From Defiance to Begging: Inside Carney’s Polling Freefall and the “Fortress North America” Mirage
Carney hits a record-low 16% net approval, Doug Ford heads to Washington with a white flag, and the Laurentian elite launches a desperate attack to cover up their own catastrophic failures.
Do you remember that headline making the rounds last week? You know the one: “Carney’s Liberals hit record high 50% support, new poll finds.” The legacy media ran with it, painting a picture of an untouchable regime.
Well, fast forward to today, and every major polling firm in this country is suddenly documenting a brutal, unmitigated free fall for Prime Minister Mark Carney. And let’s be honest—we already know how heavily these mainstream sample pools skew in favour of the Liberals to begin with. If they are showing a collapse, the reality on the ground is likely worse.
Liaison: Carney Back to the Tracker Lows
The most damning data hit the wire yesterday from Liaison Strategies, and it documents a radical reality check for Fortress Carney. According to the latest figures, the Liberal lead has eroded to just eight points as Carney’s net approval rating plummets to match his all-time tracker low.
Do you know when he was last this low? December of last year, right when Canadians were starting to open their eyes and ask, “What in God’s name is going on? We elected this guy to manage Donald Trump and secure the U.S. relationship, and nothing is getting done.” Then, right on cue in January, he flies off to the World Economic Forum, delivers a slick Davos speech, and suddenly everyone falls back in love with the central banker. His popularity soared on simple words. The Davos high has officially shattered. Carney is right back in the gutter where he started.
Look at that net approval trajectory. Two months ago, Carney was sitting on a comfortable +31% net approval rating. Last month, it dropped to +20%. Today, it sits at +16%. He has bled 15 points of net approval in just 60 days. This is the direct consequence of everything we’ve been breaking down recently: cascading cracks in his own caucus, deeply unpopular policies, and a media apparatus that is occasionally forced to commit random acts of journalism. The Spring Economic Statement was a disaster. The “Sovereign Wealth Fund”—which we all know is just a glorified sovereign debt fund—went over like a lead balloon.
Now, Carney is trying to salvage his brand by cutting tiny rebate checks to Canadians, pumping them up on social media like he’s doing us a massive favour. But regular everyday people are looking at these checks with disdain
A Bold Prediction Validated
This polling collapse takes me back to a very specific post I made on May 19th of this year. It was a bold, audacious prediction, and the establishment laughed it off at the time. I wrote:
When I posted that, Steven Guilbeault hadn’t announced his resignation yet. Those 14 Liberal MPs hadn’t signed their names to an internal letter yet. None of the public chaos had materialized. I based that prediction purely on the structural rot of the Spring Economic Statement, the media was livid, and the fact that Gregor Robertson was quietly icing Carney out.
Now, the cracks are public record. Conservatives have been feeling demoralized, but these numbers prove we are well within a fighting chance to beat this government. The opportunity to apply pressure on this government is sitting right there on the table. Don’t check out. Get engaged.
The Humiliating “Fortress North America” Trade Pivot
As the July 1st CUSMA/USMCA revision deadline approaches, Ottawa is in an absolute panic. The Americans have effectively frozen Canada out of core trade talks while actively negotiating with Mexico. In response, the Liberal government has pulled off a breathtakingly embarrassing, hypocritical U.S. trade pivot.
The media is calling it a “Trumpian sales pitch.” For the last 18 months, Mark Carney and Ontario Premier Doug Ford have acted as the chief anti-Trump cheerleaders in Canada, whining about tariffs and grandstanding about “defying Washington.” Ottawa’s official mantra was that Canada would simply bypass the U.S. by doubling non-American trade with Europe, Asia, and the Mercosur bloc.
But now that the rubber has met the road the Liberals have completely abandoned their defiance.
On Monday, Doug Ford is jetting down to Washington, D.C., to beg U.S. officials to accept a new concept called “Fortress North America.” Suddenly, the politicians who demonized regional integration are preaching the gospel of continental economic alignment. They went from claiming the U.S. was trying to “own us” to standing on Wall Street declaring that “a strong Canada will help Make America Great Again.” They wasted a year and a half stoking fear and anger for domestic political points instead of doing the actual work of leadership. They burned all of our geopolitical leverage, and now Canada is reduced to begging for scraps at the whims of the American administration.
The Charlie Angus Distraction Machine
Former NDP MP Charlie Angus—who stepped away from elected politics but is now desperately trying to maintain relevance through the Alex Soros, American-funded YouTube channel—resurfaced on Parliament Hill with a laughable proposal.
Angus publicly called on the newly appointed Foreign Interference Transparency Commissioner, Anton Bogman, to launch an official federal investigation into... the Alberta Independence Movement and the United States government.
Angus claimed that top U.S. State Department officials holding meetings with Alberta separatists constitutes a “Washington-led effort to destabilize Canada.” He then launched into a tirade against U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra for retweeting Donald Trump’s “51st State” comment, calling it an act of “foreign intimidation.”
Let’s expose the rank hypocrisy here. For years, Ottawa and Eastern Canada have treated Alberta like an atmospheric piggy bank, telling them their energy is “dirty” and their people are “backwoods hicks.” But the moment Alberta leaders sit down with American officials to explore their economic sovereignty options under an administration that actually supports energy development, the Laurentian elite throws a fit.
Furthermore, Charlie Angus has been completely silent on actual, proven foreign interference happening right in our backyard. On Friday, a Quebec court quietly postponed the economic espionage verdict for Yuesheng Wang—the former Hydro-Québec employee and Chinese national arrested in 2022 for funneling critical state utility secrets to Beijing under the Security of Information Act.
The elite are perfectly comfortable with Chinese state actors conducting corporate espionage and setting up illegal police stations to hunt down Chinese-Canadians on our soil. But a U.S. Ambassador reposts a post on social media, and suddenly Charlie Angus needs the help of the federal commissioner.
The simple truth is that the only people compromising Canadian sovereignty are the people running the government. If we had an administration that took national security seriously—one that actually kicked out the CCP, crushed the Mexican cartel drug networks at our borders, eradicated forced labor from our supply chains, and built up our national defence—we would have a position of absolute strength to negotiate with the Americans.
Instead, we have a government that runs away to Europe when the temperature gets hot. Mark Carney’s corporate experiment is failing, the timeline is accelerating, and the bill is coming due.

Strong disapprove. From an investment side of things, Mr.Carney is driving Canada's value through the floor, and I think once he's out of office, we will see a surge of very public Brookfield acquisitions.
